Week 3

“Not much to write home about” sums up this week quite well. Three days of remote working from home and two days at the office. Omicron is really roaming in Paris, lots of people both at work and amongst our friends are getting it. We will probably all have the virus, it is now just a question of time. At the same time, most people seem to experience a milder version of it, more like a bad flu. For the first time, I’m no longer worried about getting the virus, with three vaccinations, it will hopefully be bearable. I’m feeling very tired and keep looking for symptoms, channeling my inner hypochondria.

I have developed a love and hate relationship with my 365 project. There are days when I feel like quitting it, I perceive it as a burden and an unnecessary stress trigger. Then there are days when the beautiful sun is out and I feel all motivated and thrilled to be able to capture it. Most days I apprehend it as an obligation and would do anything just to be able to stay at home and not to venture out. But once I’m out and about, I’m so grateful for this commitment that boosts me to make an extra effort. It is sort of a blessing in disguise. In a year’s time and especially later, it will be interesting to see what was happening around in 2022. Judging by these images, there were a few days with exquisite light and lots of walking around the neighbourhood at the end of the working day. And my son apparently got the fève when we celebrated the épiphanie with Galette des Rois. Well, officially it takes place on the 6th of January, but our family tradition includes honouring it every week in January as there is champagne involved.
