Lockdown in Paris - Week 4
Fourth week of lockdown in France. The schools in Paris started spring holidays last Friday. Funny how easily kids adapt, my son is head over heels happy about being on holiday. NO HOMEWORK for two weeks. His enthusiasm and happiness is palpable.
Inside our apartment life goes on. While schools are closed, home offices remain open. The weather is still beautiful, but we do not go out, except me on Thursday for the weekly shopping and my husband and son every afternoon to the small backyard. I have changed my shopping patterns, I no longer go to the shops I used to, I’m not convinced their social distancing is effective enough. Instead, I order online and pick up my deliveries from a city “drive in” which is more like a “walk in”. I also have fresh fruits, vegetable and meat delivered directly from the whole sellers once a week. On Thursday, in addition to my pick up, I go to a bakery and a greengrocers where I feel secure.
Cooking takes a lot of time but I really like it. My son helps me in the kitchen and together we try new dishes, we even prepared a gigot d’agneau for Easter. We enjoy the long Easter weekend sunbathing by the window. We also celebrate seder by Zoom with the family as we cannot gather together. During daytime, we keep the windows open. The change is unimaginable: before we could only hear the rather heavy traffic of passing cars, now we can hear people jogging beneath our window (we are on the fourth floor). So calm and relaxing.
I’m longing to photograph the street and would love to start a new project. In the meantime, I keep updating my web pages and still hope to find time to learn Photoshop properly. In the evenings and during the weekend my husband continues his personal project of cleaning up the little storage we have on the attic of our building and the bigger cave downstairs. He is also turning our son’s childish room into a more adolescent version. In the evenings we continue our family movie nights.
